The duo Ricchi e Poveri returns to Romania three years after their last meeting with Romanian fans. The hits “Sará perché ti amo”, “Mamma Maria” and “Se m’innamoro” will be heard on an exceptional evening in the Rose Park in Timisoara on September 13. The band that Europe fell in love with in the 80s, now formed by Angela Brambati and Angelo Sotgiu, comes to Romania with new songs. Organiser: Events.
The Ricchi e Poveri project was born in Italy in 1967. The group, originally a polyphonic quartet called Fama Medium that included Franco Gatti, Angela Brambati, Angelo Sotgiu and Marina Occhiena, underwent changes in composition (Marina left in 1981, and Franco Gatti also left the band in 2016).
“Sará perché ti amo”, the song with which Ricchi e Poveri took part in the Sanremo Festival in 1981, made them famous: it went beyond the borders of Italy, dominating the music charts in Belgium, France, Austria, Germany and Spain. It also broke the record for the best-selling single of the year, with over 7 million copies sold. 1985 is the year of definitive consecration, the band wins the Sanremo Festival with the song Se m’innamoro””. In their 50 years of musical activity they have released 17 studio albums, 15 compilations and sold over 20 million records.
Released earlier this year, their latest single Ricchi e Poveri is entitled “Marikita” (Little Ladybird). It’s a summery, Latin-tinged track sung in Spanish and chosen by Fausto Brizzi for the soundtrack of the film Poveri ma ricchi. The new song is available on iTunes and distributed by Sony Music.
